why is 2G needed for making calls?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Recently my phone has had an update to Android 16 and I've tried enabling advanced phone protection on android

This worked well while I was in Egypt on vacation

But since I've been back in Prague, this security package disables 2G connections and that completely blocks any ability to make or receive phone calls in CZ

I see an article saying that Vodafone is planning complete phasing out of 2G Networks by 2030, and 3G networks are already phased out in CZ

Why can't I make calls without 2G? This wasn't an issue when I was in Egypt, why is it a problem here?

Hi, do you have active VoLTE (Voice over LTE)? You must have it switched on in My Vodafone and also in telephone.
